f/32 group show

Photography Group Show by f/32 is August Show at BMCA

The public is invited to attend the opening reception for the f/32 Photography Group show at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts at 225 W. State Street on Friday, August 6 from 6-8 pm. For directions or more information contact the Center at 828/669-0930. More information on f/32 can be found at www.f32nc.com.

Here is what f/32 tells you about themselves.

f/32 is a diversified group of photographers who share an appreciation and love of photography.  Members range from the young to the young at heart, from the amateur to the advanced, from those who like to just take pictures to the professional photographer. The members of f/32 use a wide range of equipment to produce images, including traditional film cameras, digital cameras and flatbed scanners.

Each month photographers meet to share their work with each other and receive input from peers, to see the work of other members, to learn new methods, techniques, and tricks of the trade, to keep abreast on the latest industry news and equipment and to enjoy good old fashioned fellowship with other photographers.

For photography buffs, becoming a member of f/32 is easy and offers many club benefits. A membership application form is available online at the website. Members of f/32 receive monthly newsletters including meeting schedules and highlights, local shows and contests, club news, etc. There are monthly meetings with guest speakers, networking opportunities, and work by fellow members to be viewed. f/32 participates in several group shows each year and members are invited to submit work for those shows. A subgroup, Pixel Pushers, is available to those who are interested in digital photography. The group also sponsors field trips and workshops for members.

The 2010 show at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts features black and white work only, which will be the work of approximately 30 – 35 members. The opening reception offers an opportunity for the public to meet the artists and view the collective works. The show, which is sponsored by The Gingko Tree Gallery and f/32 Photography Group, will continue in the Upper Gallery at BMCA through September 3.
