Asheville-based acoustic Americana band, Red June, announces their Homegrown Tour 2011 to focus attention on local agriculture. To emphasize their Buy Local message, Red June will donate $1 of each CD sale at live shows for the first half of 2011 to the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP). ASAP does critical work in WNC expanding local food markets, supporting farmers, and building healthy communities through connections to local food; Red June is proud to support their mission.
Red June (named after the heirloom apple variety), will be performing at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts on Saturday, Feb. 26th at 7:30pm. Admission is a $10 suggested donation at the door. The Center is located at 225 W. State Street. Red June’ s September 2010 release, Remember Me Well, was voted #1 in WNCW’ s Regional Top 20 Contest and #31 in WNCW’ s “ Top 100 albums of 2010” . Remember Me Well also debuted on the national Folk DJ charts at #4 album in November.
