Black Mountain Center for the Arts to host Renae & Jamie Brame in Concert March 26 On Friday, March 26, at 7:30 pm, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts will host local favorites Renae and Jamie Brame in concert. The Center is located in the original City Hall at 225 W. State Street. Admission is by donation at the door, with a suggested minimum donation of $10. There is limited seating, so early arrival is recommended. Doors open at 7 pm. For more information call 828/669-0930. Renae and Jamie Brame have been performing music together almost since the day they met in 1990. They have performed at Grey Eagle Mountain Music when it was in Black Mountain, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, as well as participating in community worship services and playing in churches around the Southeast. Renae is the Director of Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry. She has been performing individually and in bands and with others since the 1970’s. In addition to playing guitar and singing, she is a songwriter. Before working at SVCM, Renae was the Superintendent of Black Mountain Correctional Center for Women. She moved to Black Mountain in 1989. The Reverend Jamie Brame is an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Church Relations Director at Christmount, where he has worked since 1989. Prior to that, he pastored a church in Dublin, GA. He has also been performing with various groups since the 1970’s. Renae and Jamie perform a “folk-ish” sounding music with emphasis on vocal harmonies. Their music will be a combination of original pieces and covers. They use guitars, mandolin, harmonica, pennywhistle, and other instruments as well. Their music includes a blend of folk, country, “newgrass,” and religious. The two live in Black Mountain with their cat, Penny, who is slowly warming to the idea of live music in her house. Gale Jackson, Executive Director of BMCA, states, “Renae and Jamie are such popular performers here in the Valley and at the Center. We know their fans will give them great support on the 26th.”
