Lessons are both fun and informative. They are tailored to meet the needs of the individual student according to their level of knowledge and experience.

Younger students and beginners are encouraged to try their hand at several mediums.

Subject matter is based on each students area of interest including, but not limited to landscape, wildlife, still life, abstract, portraits and floral. Each year students are given the unique opportunity to show their work in an Emerging Artists showcase. This annual show is open to the public and receives quite a bit of publicity.

Watercolors in the New Year

Watercolor Workshop

with Nate Barton

January 30, February 6, 13, & 20 • 6:30-8pm

$35 per individual class

$120 for full package

Start the new year with an exploration of watercolors! This series of classes offers four sessions aimed at all levels of ability and guaranteed to leave you with three ready to frame works of art.

Week 1: Watercolor Intro. In the first class I will guide you, step by step, through the painting of a watercolor landscape of our mountains. We will explore watercolor techniques, consider color and how light is important in any work.

Week 2: Going deeper. Using some of the skills and techniques we learned in the first class we will create a study of a leaf. This painting will be a little more involved than our mountain landscape and each student will be guided through the creation of a personal painting of a leaf they have chosen.

Week 3: Make it your own. In this class we will finish up the leaf painting from the previous week. In addition, students will be invited to bring their own ideas/photos in order to create their own original painting using all of the skills and techniques gained so far. Guidance will be offered throughout.

Week 4: Finish line. This will be a working class where students can continue to work on their personal piece under the guidance and tutelage of a watercolor artist with 25 years of experience.
