Art in Bloom
This year marks the 16th Annual Art in Bloom, our most anticipated fundraiser of the year. This multi-faceted event celebrating nature and art combines two gallery exhibits, live floral arrangements, local garden tours featuring working artists, and floral-inspired workshops. Whether you join us for one event or all of them, you are playing an important role in supporting the arts in our community.

Guest of Honor
Rita was the Program Coordinator here at BMCA the year that Art in Bloom started. Together with director Gale Jackson and a large committee of dedicated volunteers, Rita helped shepherd Art in Bloom until her retirement in 2013. She created a solid foundation for a fundraiser that has evolved over the years, but remained one of the town's most cherished events. Her work on Art in Bloom continued past her employment with stints as co-chair of the committee and active participation on a wide variety of levels.
Prior to her tenure at BMCA she spent many years working as a librarian in University settings. She moved to Black Mountain with her daughter Amy Vermillion (of Dripolator fame) and sister Barbara Gibson. She opened Catawba Sunrise Gallery where she represented scores of artists in all kinds of genres. She closed the gallery and in 2005 became BMCA’s Program Coordinator.

Can't make it in person?
In an effort to include all of our supporters not able to make it into the gallery in July, we will put as much of the event online as we can! Art in Bloom is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and your support means we can continue to offer enriching programming and events in the future. Consider making a donation if you're able, and we hope to see you in person next year!
