Senior Appalachian Musicians

Discover the joy of music with BMCA’s newest program, Senior Appalachian Musicians (SAM)! Designed for adults, SAM offers weekly group lessons in guitar, banjo, and fiddle, led by expert instructors passionate about traditional Appalachian music. Participants learn timeless songs in a welcoming, supportive environment while connecting with peers. Learning an instrument later in life supports healthy aging by exercising focus, memory, and self-discipline, all while fostering motivation and perseverance. Join SAM to nourish your mind, body, and spirit through the vibrant sounds of Appalachia!

BMCA’s Senior Appalachian Musicians program (SAM) is back this fall! Participants learn timeless songs in a welcoming, supportive environment while connecting with peers. Join SAM to nourish your mind, body, and spirit through the vibrant sounds of Appalachia! 

 

SAM meets weekly at BMCA on Wednesdays from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, September 9 - December 9, 2026, and January 13 - May 6, 2027.  Tuition is $15 per session if paid monthly, and $12 per session if paid by semester. If an instrument is needed, rentals from BMCA are $20 a month.
