Board Member Role and Expectations
BMCA Board members are a vital part of the organization. As a volunteer board, all members are asked to support the center with their time, effort, and resources.
Support Through Giving & Purchases

All Board members are expected to become a member each year at a level of giving which is comfortable for the member.

Support other initiatives as you are able

Purchase art from gallery exhibits, the gift shop (online or onsite), holiday markets. etc.

Use your business to sponsor events
Committee Assignments:

Actively participate on a board committee and/or serve as a Liaison or in a position.
Be an Ambassador for the Center

Talk about BMCA with family and friends. Make comments on our social media posts, encourage your friends to attend and support the posted events, encourage others to become members

Solicit your connections to sponsor events
Strong Presence

Attend BMCA events throughout the year (plays, gallery openings, fundraisers, concerts, etc.) and proudly display your Board Member name tag.

Attend and participate in board meetings (the fourth Tuesday of each month)

Volunteer to work events and help with special projects at BMCA

Be sure you are receiving our bi-monthly e-newsletters and read them to stay up to date on what’s happening at BMCA

Review the new agenda and last month’s minutes and financials before the next board meeting
Clear Communication

Reply to email requests from the board chair and/or the ED

Communicate with the board chair each month regarding your attendance to the monthly meeting
