  • Musical Theater/Jazz 2 || Ages 10 - 16

    Join us every Tuesday at 5:00 PM for Musical Theater/Jazz 2, a beginner/intermediate Jazz dance class perfect for young tweens and teens who want to explore music and movement. No previous dance experience is required for this fun and welcoming class. This class offers a supportive environment in which to explore the concepts of both Jazz Dance and Musical Theater while focusing on movement quality, musicality, and fun. Experience a blend of Jazz technique and Broadway-inspired character development that develops coordination, precision, and stage presence. Each class includes a warm-up, technique exercises, and excerpts of choreography from beloved musicals to enhance confidence and mastery of the Jazz genre. Optional recital in May Tuesdays 5:00 - 5:45 Ages 10 - 16 or younger, by instructor discretion $55/month

  • Tap 2 (Ages 10-16)

    Join us every Tuesday at 4:45 PM for Tap 2, a class that fuses Broadway Dance, Jazz, and Rhythmic Tap through percussive footwork and character portrayal. Appropriately fitting tap shoes are required. Geared towards students with some previous dance experience, this class is an extension of the concepts learned in Tap 1; however, beginner dancers ages 10+ are absolutely welcome. Each class includes warm-up exercises, across-the-floor combinations, center floor work, and excerpts of choreography to familiarize students with the tap genre. Dancers will develop their musicality, precision, and coordination, and participate in fun activities centered around dance history and artistic expression. This class offers an optional end-of-season recital in May.

  • Lyrical Expressions! Youth Dance

    Lyrical expressions! Learn to express yourself in this fun and free lyrical class. We will warmup and practice some dance basics and then learn an exciting dance combo. Your students will shine in these awesome 1 hour summer pop-up dance classes! These classes are open to all experience levels. Each month we will focus on a different dance style such as broadway jazz, lyrical, and ballet. Each class will contain a warm-up, some simple dance technique exercises, learning some cool choreography, and a fun movement activity/game. Your student will gain confidence as well as strength, coordination, and flexibility all while having fun with friends. 10:30 - 11:30 AM Ages 7-14 $15

  • Kids in Motion 2 (Ages 5 - 6)

    This fun-filled dance class is the perfect opportunity for your child to experience the joys of movement and develop a love for dance. Students will improve their coordination, flexibility, memory, musicality, and gross motor skills. This class focuses on growing the foundations needed for many dance techniques, including contemporary, ballet, jazz, and lyrical. In this class, your dancer will grow their listening and cooperation skills, which will help them in school and beyond. Dancers will have a blast with exciting themed classes, age-appropriate movement activities, and opportunities for connection and creativity! This class has an end-of-season recital option in May. Thursdays 3:45 - 4:30 Ages 5 - 6 $55/Month

  • Beach Boogie: Dance, Sing & Play

    Let’s have some FUN-IN-THE-SUN! This week, little movers will groove to the beat, wiggle like waves, and explore the deep blue sea. It’s going to be a bright, breezy week full of summertime magic! Join us this summer for our 2025 Summer Camps, where kids can dance, sing, and play their way through exciting themed adventures! With weekly activities like music, dance, crafts, and imaginative games, campers will have a blast while showcasing their creativity during a performance on the BMCA stage at the end of each session. Camps are divided into Preschool (ages 3-5) and Elementary (ages 6-9) groups, offering age-appropriate fun and learning. Camps run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, 225 West State Street. Weekly tuition is $175, or $160 with early payment before May 1st. Let’s make this summer unforgettable!

  • Parent & Me: Toddler Dance Class

    Put on some comfy clothes, grab your tiny dancer, and get ready to twirl, clap, groove, and explore! This class is the perfect way to connect with your precious little one while introducing them to movement, music, and the magic of dance.

  • Dance Troupe

    Dance Troupe gives students the chance to be a part of a team, learn lots of cool choreography, and have the chance to perform many times throughout the year in our community. This fun group experience is great for dancers who want to really expand their dance technique and artistry while sharing their talents with the community. Dancers must be ages 7-16 and enrolled in at least one BMCA dance technique class (contemporary 1-3 or ballet 1-2) in order to join Troupe. Troupe is a rehearsal class that meets once a week, where dancers will learn special choreography. There will also be several additional dress rehearsals and community performances (usually on weekends) throughout each semester. This opportunity requires both students and parents to be committed to the team for a full semester (September-December and/or January-May). See the Troupe document for all of the details and expectations. Reach out if you have any questions! This class performs at least one dance (sometimes more) at our end-of-year recital in May.     Try Something Sweet: Twirl like soft serve and shake like sprinkles in this sweet and silly dance class! Join us for a fun-filled trip to the ice cream shop. Get ready to move, groove, and have a blast this summer with Kids in Motion 1! In this 45-minute pop-up class, your kiddo will explore the world of dance in a fun, engaging, and imaginative way. Taught by the energetic Ms. Lacy, this class is designed to help students develop essential motor skills, coordination, and musicality through themed movement activities that spark creativity and teamwork. Each session will introduce students to the basics of various dance styles, while fostering imagination. Whether it's twirling like a ballerina, jumping like a frog, or tapping to the beat, your child will love every minute of it! Join us for a fun-filled, high-energy experience perfect for your little mover. 9:30 - 10:15 AM Ages 3 - 6 $15

  • Jingle Jam: Family Holiday Music Class

    Join us on Thursday, December 18th at 10 AM for a cozy, joy-filled family music class at BMCA! This special, Music Together–style session invites you and your little ones to sing, dance, move, and play along to songs inspired by winter holiday traditions from around the world. ✨ Pajamas encouraged for extra coziness ✨ All ages welcome ✨ Pay-what-you-can (suggested $20/family) Come make musical memories, wiggle out winter wiggles, and fill your morning with warmth, connection, and festive fun!   • Contemporary 1 || Ages 7 - 9

    This contemporary dance class is perfect for young students who want to explore expressive movement, fluid technique, and creative storytelling. Each week, your student will enhance their strength, balance, and artistic range through a mix of floor work, center exercises, and choreography. Students will also get to create lasting memories and friendships through guided improvisation and collaborative movement games. Although this class builds on concepts learned in Kids in Motion 2, no previous dance experience is required for this inspiring and welcoming environment! This class has an end-of-season recital option in May.

  • Tap & Jazz: MoveAbility

    Rediscover rhythm and vitality in our Tap & Jazz class tailored for healthy aging. This open-level class offers a gentle, supportive workout using tap and jazz-inspired movements that can be done standing, from a chair, or using a barre for extra stability. Designed to accommodate varying mobility levels, the class emphasizes movement, musicality, and fun, without pressure or performance expectations. With every step and shuffle, participants boost brain elasticity through learning new choreography, strengthen bones via weight-bearing taps, and improve cardiovascular health with rhythmic full-body engagement. Studies show dance enhances brain function, bone density, balance, and heart health in older adults. Plus, our trauma-informed, body-positive environment encourages social connection, emotional uplift, and confidence. Join us to tap into health, joy, and community—one beat at a time.

  • Pre-Pointe (Ages 7 - 16)

    Pre-Pointe is the perfect class for your dedicated ballerina. Through age-appropriate dance conditioning exercises, students will gain the foot, ankle, calf, and core strength and flexibility needed for a successful dance career, setting them up for the ability to safely go en pointe when they reach the appropriate age and skill level. This class is also great for dancers just wanting to improve their overall strength, flexibility, and coordination. This class has an end-of-season recital option in May. This class requires a long theraband, and a yoga mat is recommended. 11:00 - 11:30 Ages 7 - 16, who are enrolled in another ballet class $45/Month
