Policies
SEE HANDBOOK WHEN REGISTERING REGISTRATION & SAFETY All students must be fully registered before participating. This ensures we have emergency contacts and health information on file. Instructors cannot register students; if you arrive unregistered, you must complete the online form before your dancer enters the studio. TUITION & BILLING Tuition is a flat monthly fee that secures your dancer’s spot and compensates our instructors for the full season. The rate remains the same regardless of holidays, school breaks, or inclement weather cancellations. Your first month is due at registration; subsequent payments are auto-charged on the 10th of each month. For billing adjustments, contact dance@blackmountainarts.org. CANCELLATIONS To cancel enrollment, email dance@blackmountainarts.org at least 14 days before the start of the next billing month (for example, to cancel April, notify us by March 22). Cancellations received after that 14-day window will result in one final month of tuition being charged, as your dancer's spot will have been held. ABSENCES AND MAKE-UPS We are unable to offer refunds or make-up classes for absences due to illness, vacation, or personal scheduling. If BMCA cancels a class due to instructor absence or inclement weather, we will offer either a make-up session or the opportunity to attend an equivalent class if space allows. LEVEL PLACEMENT & CHANGES Students should be signed up for classes in their age group unless otherwise approved or recommended by the instructor. New students may ask to be evaluated for a higher level during their first few weeks in their age-level class. Placement is based on age, skill level, and developmental readiness. If an instructor believes a different level would better serve your dancer’s growth or safety, they will contact you to discuss a change. Our priority is finding an environment where each student can thrive. CLASSROOM READINESS If a student is not yet developmentally ready for a structured classroom setting, instructors may ask them to step out for the day or recommend returning later in the season. BMCA Dance reserves the right to adjust placement or remove a student from the program when it is in the best interest of the student or the class, in alignment with NDEO standards.
